Dr. Ally Quintos

Dr. Kelly Perona

Dr. Ally Quintos
Dr. Ally is one of those rare extraverted Seattleites. She loves to help others move better and feel better while holding a compassionate, motivating space. As with other providers at Flourish, Dr. Ally believes that any progress in health, no matter how small, is a step forward and should be celebrated. Some days that will be earning a PR at the gym. Other days that will be simply showing up for your appointment. Your best will change from day to day, and it is enough.
Dr. Ally uses chiropractic adjusting, muscle scraping (gua sha), pin and stretch, and therapeutic exercises, while also addressing behavioral modifications, nutrition, and lifestyle factors all for optimal wellness. She is primarily a diversified manual adjuster, and also implements Thompson Drops and instrument-assisted adjustments. Some of her patients prefer instrument-only and that is welcomed by her.
She takes a movement and biomechanics based approach to chiropractic to promote function and wellbeing. As an avid runner, Dr. Ally loves helping people with hip, knee and shoulder injuries. She is amazed at how many people who hike or run have neck and shoulders tension! Aside from sports injuries or helping people continue doing what they love, she also has experience in pediatrics and prenatal, and really enjoys working with children, from 1 month to 17 years old. She loves supporting those who are expecting throughout their pregnancy, whether it be back pain, hip pain or overall wellness.
Dr. Ally returned to Seattle in 2020 to practice and joined Flourish in 2022. When Dr. Ally is outside of the office, she enjoys running, spending time with her family, and playing with her pup, Franklin.

Dr. Kelly Perona
Dr. Kelly focuses on intentional healing and pain relief using hot stones, adjustments, focused massage, and stretches to encourage movement in the body, as well as preventive/self-care, posture and general wellbeing.
She is Webster-certified and has studied in the most painless, effective treatment methods available which involve traditional hands-on adjustments or instrument.
From Dr. Kelly: I love connecting with people and holding a supportive space for their needs. I started school to become a dentist with the intent to have a career in helping people. Three years into my schooling, I changed my profession to chiropractic after a car accident so I could focus on treating muscle and joint problems naturally. I love witnessing the exponential improvement chiropractic and massage can bring to whiplash or strains from MVAs, bike accidents, or other collisions. And doing so in a compassionate, validating space.
I have helped musicians, people who bind or brave MTF or FTM surgeries, runners, yoga enthusiasts, people in the restaurant industry, hairstylists, and those with the ever-elusive desk jobs. My mission is to help people live life to their fullest potential. Sometimes that is being able to work throughout the day without pain. Sometimes that is getting out of bed and brushing your teeth. There is no judgement and I am humbled and appreciative to have someone trust me to help them in their goals.
I am familiar with a large variety of body movements and mechanics and have plenty of experience with my own injuries. I also understand that healing from an injury can be difficult because you don’t want to take time off from activity. I don’t want people to settle for merely being out of pain for typical daily activities. Healing properly, to me, means being able to get back into your personal level of activity without discomfort. I’d love to help.

How Back Pain Affects Your Life
Back pain is one of the most common conditions impacting adults. You can feel it throughout your back, but also in your neck, legs, and arms, making it difficult to function. Simple tasks, like getting out of bed or sitting at a desk, become challenging. If the pain lasts, it can impact your mental health, leading to frustration, anxiety, and even depression.
Types of Back Pain
You can experience pain anywhere in your back. Upper and middle back pain is between the bottom of your neck and the bottom of your rib cage, while low back pain is usually felt below your rib cage.
Low back pain is more common than upper and middle back pain. Your low back is where your lumbar spine is. These five large vertebrae support the weight of your upper body and absorb a majority of your body’s weight and movement, making it more prone to injury and long-term wear and tear.

Acute and Chronic Back Pain
Acute back pain comes on suddenly, often from an accident or injury, but it can also happen when you lift something heavy or twist your back a bit too far. While some cases of acute back pain resolve in a few days, it may take as many as six weeks before you begin feeling better.
Chronic back pain is different. It often lasts more than 12 weeks without improvement. While a sudden injury or trauma can result in chronic back pain, many cases are the result of:
- Aging. As you age, your everyday movements and activities take a toll, contributing to normal wear and tear on your spine. While this is normal, it can contribute to back pain.
- Nerve compression. Herniated or slipped discs can irritate or pinch nerves in your back.
- Structural issues. Structural issues, like changes in your vertebrae due to chronic conditions, can impact your nerves and spinal cord.
Common Causes of Back Pain
No matter where or what type of back pain you have, they all have one thing in common: it likely has more than one cause. The most common causes of back pain include:
- Poor posture: Standing or sitting with incorrect posture for prolonged periods can lead to muscle imbalances and strain, particularly in the lower back.
- Muscle strain: Lifting heavy objects, sudden movements, or repetitive motions can strain the muscles and ligaments in the back.
- Muscle sprains: A sprain is an injury to your ligaments. When it causes back pain, something like a fall, twist, or blunt force stretches the ligaments beyond the normal range of motion. Like muscle strains, muscle sprains can lead to muscle spasms.
- Spinal misalignments: Spinal misalignment is caused by anything from sudden injuries to consistent slouching and can happen anywhere in the spinal column. No matter the cause, a misaligned spine can place stress on the surrounding nerves and muscles.
- Herniated discs: When the soft material inside a spinal disc pushes through its outer layer, it can press on nearby nerves, causing sharp pain, numbness, or weakness in the back and legs.
- Degenerative conditions: Conditions such as osteoarthritis or degenerative disc disease gradually break down the spine’s structures, leading to chronic back pain as the cushioning between vertebrae diminishes.
- Sedentary lifestyle: While an inactive lifestyle can cause back pain, so can staying in one position for too long, like working long hours at a desk without getting up and stretching.
- Overexertion: Conversely, too much movement can also cause back pain. For example, overdoing it on a bike ride or playing golf when you haven’t done those activities recently.

Common Back Pain Symptoms
Where you feel the pain and how long it lasts helps your care team understand what type of back pain you have. But no matter what kind it is, you likely experience these common back pain symptoms:
- Persistent aching or stiffness, especially after resting
- A sharp, localized pain, often after lifting heavy objects or engaging in strenuous activity
- Chronic pain, particularly after sitting or standing for extended periods
- Limited mobility or difficulty moving, bending, or twisting without pain
- Pain radiating down the legs, which may indicate a more severe issue like sciatica or a herniated disc. The pain may feel hot, burning, shooting, or stabbing, and you may experience numbness or weakness in your back or legs.
Take Control of Your Back Pain
Don’t let back pain hold you back. If you experience spine pain, lumbar pain, or even shoulder pain, we can help. Schedule an appointment at Flourish Chiropractic Spa today and take your first steps toward effective pain relief.

Benefits of Chiropractic Adjustments for Back Pain

Chiropractic care offers more than immediate relief from back pain. It provides long-term benefits that can significantly enhance your overall well-being.
- Sustained pain relief. Regular chiropractic adjustments can provide sustained relief by aligning your spine to reduce back pain, promote muscle relaxation, and help your body function more efficiently.
- Improved mobility and flexibility. Chiropractic care helps you move more freely and comfortably by maintaining the health of your spine and surrounding muscles, allowing you to participate in the activities you enjoy without pain or stiffness.
- Prevent future back pain. Regular adjustments and ongoing care can help prevent the recurrence of back pain by maintaining spinal health and addressing issues before they become serious.
- Enhanced overall well-being: When your spine is in alignment and your body is functioning at its best, you’ll likely notice improvements in other areas of your health. FAQs
How soon can I expect to see results from my back pain treatment?
Some patients experience relief after just a few sessions, while others may require ongoing treatment over several weeks or months to achieve the best outcomes. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your specific condition and what you can expect regarding progress.
Can poor posture really cause back pain?
Absolutely. Hours sitting at a desk, looking down at devices, or standing with poor posture place excessive stress on your spine and surrounding muscles. Over time, these habits can contribute to chronic back pain.
Can chiropractic help if I’ve had back pain for years?
Chronic back pain is often linked to long-term issues, like age-related degeneration in the spine or joint dysfunction. Chiropractic care can improve your overall spinal function, reducing inflammation and irritation to help support better movement patterns that bring relief from back pain.
Can you help with other types of pain, such as neck pain or headaches?
We treat many issues, including neck pain, headaches, joint pain, TMJ, and more. The principles of spinal alignment and nerve function apply to many body areas, making chiropractic care a versatile treatment option.
Will chiropractic help if my back pain spreads into my hips or legs?
Radiating or referred pain happens when the nerves in your lower back are compressed. Chiropractic care can reduce pressure on those nerves and improve spinal function.
Why does my back pain keep coming back?
Recurring back pain is a signal that the underlying cause hasn’t been addressed. Your practitioner will focus on identifying and addressing the root cause of your pain to provide you with long-lasting relief.
Can chiropractic help with back pain caused by poor posture?
Poor posture places excessive stress on your back and spine. Chiropractic adjustments may improve your flexibility and mobility, while at-home exercises will help you build stronger back muscles.
